Russell grew up playing travel
hockey in western Canada, playing from Mite through Midget in
central Alberta. After attending the University of Alberta, he moved
to Kanata, Ontario where he coached Peewee travel hockey for several
seasons. He then relocated to the D/FW area, and has been coaching
for the past 6 seasons at Blueline, the Euless Dr. Pepper Star
Center, and now Nytex. For the 2007-08 season Russell coached the
Jr. Brahmas Peewee B travel team.
Russell is a Level 3 certified USA
Hockey coach, and enjoys not only coaching, but also playing as well
in the adult A and B leagues (for the past 13 seasons in the D/FW
area). He strongly believes that hockey is a sport that requires
hard work and discipline, in a strong team environment. With the
right mix of these the game can be so very rewarding and most of all
fun! |

General Comments:
I am enjoying making Dallas
my new home. My goals are to someday have my own international
goaltending school in the DFW area, training goalies that will
someday go pro. I want to lead by example, on and off the ice.
What I believe are the keys to becoming a great goaltender: Focus,
Intensity, having a positive attitude and giving everything you got
every single time you step on the ice
